American-Palestinian Youth Freed After 270 Days in Israel's Custody

An American-Palestinian teenager who spent 270 days in imprisonment by Israel without being charged gained freedom.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old at the time of his arrest last February within the occupied West Bank, where he was visiting from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing against settlement residents, claims he consistently denied.

American diplomatic officials expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care right after being freed, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears showing signs of malnutrition, while battling health issues acquired while detained.

Through an official statement, the youth's uncle conveyed their "tremendous relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "living a horrific and endless nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Right now, our priority is providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention he requires after experiencing mistreatment by authorities and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."

American authorities said it would continue to extend consular services to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance than the safety and security of US citizens"," the department emphasized.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to the state department and the White House, demanding more be done to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four managing a frozen treats business based in Tampa, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations regarding stone throwing due to physical abuse.

There were no visits or communicated with his son following the detention, and only heard regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

He stayed absent formal charges at Ofer detention facility in the West Bank.

The facility also contains mature inmates, including individuals found guilty for major terrorist activities including killings.

Several lack formal charges along with monitoring agencies, as well as the United Nations, document cases involving physical abuse and torture.

Mohammed and Sayfollah had worked together at their family's ice cream business in Tampa, Florida.
