Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
