The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season. The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles championship. A Season of High Performance Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final. The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year. In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015. Historic Achievements Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in earnings. She earned almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media. On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a new level". Other WTA Award Recipients Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year. Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18. Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair. Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five championship matches. Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
