Patrick Bamford Joins Sheffield United Despite Initiating Derogatory Songs About Coach Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United only half a year following starting derogatory songs aimed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, a free agent since leaving Leeds, has signed a deal joining the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's lengthy spell with Leeds was ended through agreement in August.

Among the player's last memorable actions as a Leeds player included starting abusive songs regarding Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party in April. Currently, the former England international will feature for Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to lift his beloved club away from the relegation zone.

Previous History Involving Bamford & the Manager

Both men had history prior to Leeds moved up back to the top flight last season and United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured direct promotion while Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends & Moving Forward

All appears has been put behind them with United, the Championship’s least productive attack, in desperate need of a boost up front and Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. A repentant Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Wilder commented back then: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I have no issue whatsoever with it. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and admired him giving me a call.

“We had a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel as well and had a half-hour chat together and he's a great person, a class act. Back in my playing days we used to give it and accept it and that’s an integral part of the game at every level, including a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I'm fine with it and I told him that to Patrick.”

Recent Career Struggles

Bamford made 18 games for Leeds last season however the former Forest, Chelsea and Middlesbrough striker has faced difficulties with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
