The President Welcomes Relatives of Shot Military Soldiers to White House

President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the presidential home.

He added that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Tragic Incident

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Call

The president stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president addressed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in the capital.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the individual that educators desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her previous school, told the press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Government Changes

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.

The event caused the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a resident of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told a news show that she planned to meet with his relatives.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” he addressed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
