The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving engaging, politically driven stories. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two producers whose projects have represented all of those elements.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by having a new backdrop and group of personalities in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always delving into the core of people through this multifaceted and turbulent viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, visionary style to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
