🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Cerebral Horror That Blends Silent Hill with Social Deduction Gameplay The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled a number of intriguing upcoming titles, but one in particular has captured the imagination: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience seems to blend the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill title with the paranoid deduction heart of Among Us. "It's a distinctive experience where a girl containing multiple personalities within her needs to flee from a labyrinth of the mind," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Mind In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist who appears to be of high school age. Inside her reside four distinct souls, each with unique fears and drives. These entities can seize control spontaneously, releasing their innermost terrors upon her suddenly. Judging by revealed gameplay, much of the narrative takes place within a creepy hospital, though additional clips show the protagonist navigating a desolate church. An Environment of Individual Horror "What are you afraid of? What causes you uneasy?" asks creative lead Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Small rooms. People in power. Elements that appear minor to others can trigger a deep instinct within us. This game delves into that concept — fears that are unique to each person." The core gameplay loop involves managing whichever soul emerges at any given time. However, these souls will change against your will during gameplay. While exploring, every persona's anxieties become amplified and assault the girl in succession. As the persona shifts, so does the particular terror the player experiences. Unsettling Visuals and a Fatal Decision At first glance, UN:Me displays noticeable aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill franchise. The hospital is populated by nurses who all share the same face, with unnervingly wide grins. Figures in the lobby have enormous blooms where their necks should be. Flowers are a recurring element, juxtaposing organic elegance with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me introduces a singular twist. Players must determine which of the four entities haunting the heroine is the "true" one. "All four personas claims that the physical form is rightfully them," explains a creator. "Throughout the game, you must determine who is real." After a player believes a soul is an impostor, they must eliminate it. However, since each soul can lie or hide the reality, it is very easy to make a mistake. "Maybe you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," a voice suggests. "The final entity standing might be a fake. In any case, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a confirmed launch window, but it is can be wishlist on digital storefronts.
